Who are Chalk, Fontaines D.C.’s support act?

Chalk have just been announced as the support act for Fontaines D.C. at AFAS Dome on 12 November 2026. If the Belfast band are still an unfamiliar name, you won’t be in the dark for long. We dove into their music and their story to find out what they’re all about. Meet Chalk.

Chalk revolves around Ross Cullen and Benedict Hardie-Goddard, two musicians and filmmakers who met while studying film. Their sound sits at the crossroads of post-punk, industrial, techno and noise rock. Think of the raw, physical intensity of a punk show, driven by beats and electronics that would feel just as at home in a dark, sweaty club.

The band originally started out as a trio with drummer Luke Niblock, releasing their three-part Conditions series between 2023 and 2025. Chalk have since continued as a duo.

Their debut album Crystalpunk arrived in March 2026, pushing Cullen and Goddard’s fusion of punk and rave even further. Belfast plays a key role throughout the record, with themes of identity, division and growing up in a city that still bears the scars of The Troubles.

Over the past few years, Chalk have built a formidable live reputation, sharing stages with the likes of IDLES and Fontaines D.C. On 12 November 2026, they’ll once again open for Fontaines D.C., this time at AFAS Dome.
