New single ‘Pigwig’ shows Bloc Party’s romantic side

Bloc Party have released ‘Pigwig’, a new single from Anatomy Of A Brief Romance. The British band’s seventh studio album arrives on September 11 and tells the story of a relationship, from the first rush of falling in love to the final goodbye.

‘Pigwig’ refers to the pet name Kele Okereke was given during the relationship that inspired the album. The name comes from a Beatrix Potter character. On the track, the frontman looks back on the moment he realized just how deep his feelings had become.

The single is one of the album’s lighter chapters, before the record gradually takes a different turn. Anatomy Of A Brief Romance features fourteen tracks and follows 2022’s Alpha Games. Bloc Party worked with Trevor Horn on the production.

‘Pigwig’ also comes with a live video directed by Laura Perrett, filmed during Bloc Party’s July 16 show at Théâtre Beanfield in Montréal.

This fall, Bloc Party will head across Europe with Interpol for a co-headlining tour. Both bands will perform at Forest National on Wednesday, November 18.
